The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art seeks a Head of Registration to join its team. Reporting to the Managing Director, Museum Services, the Head of Registration will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and maintaining best practices for collection care, i ncluding but not limited to: acquisitions, temporary loans, and collection databases. The Head of Registration will oversee the maintenance of detailed records of the permanent collection, exhibitions, loans, packing and shipping information, import/export documents, and fine art insurance details. The position holder will be able to work effectively and timely on a wide variety of projects concurrently with the ability to be receptive to changing priorities. Additionally, the Head of Registration must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships cross-departmentally at the museum and with external parties.
The Head of Registration will oversee a team of registrars who administer the Museum's acquisition and loan programs, including temporary exhibition loans, outgoing loans from the collection, gifts, potential acquisitions and purchases, promised gifts and bequests, which includes budgeting, fine arts insurance arrangements and logistical analysis of shipping arrangements and performing routine inventory of the collection. The Head of Registration will provide strategic thought-leadership for the department's priorities in alignment with institutional mission, vision and values, giving direction to full-time and project-based staff and interns. This role will educate staff on best practices in all areas of registration, across departments as we build the museum and its infrastructure.
